The Cor de Cambra de Granollers was set up in 1996 together with the Music School, which was established that same year within the Societat Coral Amics de la Unió de Granollers, an association dedicated to the promotion of music and choral singing since 1877.

The choir, formed by voices from across the region, aims to encourage and make known the extensive choral repertoire currently available, performing it to the highest possible level. Its repertoire is very broad and encompasses different genres, periods and styles: baroque, classical, romantic, contemporary music and traditional songs from all over the world, paying special attention to traditional Catalan music.

Since 2009, the choir has had a small group of professional singers join it for some of its productions and from the same year, it has been the resident choir of the Teatre Auditori de Granollers.

The choir puts on three regular productions a year: one with the Orquestra de Cambra de Granollers, one as part of the Teatre Auditori de Granollers’ musical programme and another within a cycle of concerts called La Música del cel, held at and organized by the church of St Esteve.

The Cor de Cambra de Granollers has taken part in several international choir festivals, both in Spain and in a number of other European countries, and has made a series of recordings; a highlight among these is Josep Maria Ruera: música vocal (Ars Harmonica, 2009). The choir has worked with directors such as Álvaro Albiach, Robert King, Manel Valdivieso, Christian Grube and Xavier Puig, among other. Josep Vila i Jover has been the choir’s director since the outset.

People say…
